CallahanWood performs design services for landscape companies that want to offer Design/Build Services but don’t quite have the capacity of having a full time designer, may be too busy with your current workload or just want a more impressive product to provide your clients.
As a contractor, you probably have the installation and construction end down, but you need to meet the client, discuss the concept, and provide the design. That’s where we come in.
Consultation
Our service begins with an onsite consultation with you and the homeowner or property manager to discuss the sites needs to provide the outdoor space desired. We discuss a concept for the project including general layout, materials, plant choices, lighting, rough budgets and costs to design. We perform a site analysis including all measurements.
Design
We take all that information back to our studio and start sketching ideas. Our designs aren’t just about pretty pictures. Our years of experience in the field contribute to our ability to provide sustainable landscapes using materials that work with your property. We consider all elements of the design including traffic patterns, area usage, location & environment.
Once we come up with the solution, it goes to CAD. We use Vectorworks 2020 Computer Aided Design software to provide beautiful, scaled 2D rendering of the space. Included on the design is all hardscaping, plants and lighting finished off with a plant list and pictures of each of the plants selected.
Proposal
Once the final product is ready, we will offer the design for your review and delivery to the client. This is where you will see we are an integral part of the team. The design will have your name and logo, not ours. Consider us an extension of your inhouse staff. We don’t expect to be perfect every time, so once proposed, if there are minor changes that need to take place, we include that in part of our process. Once final design is completed and approval is achieved, your estimator will provide a detailed quote of the project. If estimating isn’t your strongest area, we can help with that as well.
Installation
As designers, this is where we start to take a backseat to you and project managers. However, we offer to be there to help layout out exact location of plant material, bed space, hardscape areas and accent lighting. We want your project to look perfect and don’t mind a little hands-on field work to make that happen.

Whether you want to do the landscaping yourself or have a landscape contractor do the job, we can be an integral part of the process helping you along every step of the way. Having a well thought out plan by a professional is essential to providing yourself with the desired end results.

We will discuss how you plan on using it, different hardscapes, proper plant choices, what opportunities and constraints present themselves in the area and come up with an overall concept plan to create a usable, sustainable landscape that is an extension of your home or business. At this point, we will talk about design cost, budget and what you would like to spend on the project.

Installation
Now you can take your design to your preferred landscape contractor for pricing. This is also a good time to discuss timeline or sequence of events to assure your project is completed on time. Since you are already armed with a solid budget and a working estimate from CallahanWood, you can feel confident working out the details with the project manager. We can also offer to continue our involvement in the process by working closely with your contractor to help make budgets congruent, layout out exact location of plant material, bed space, hardscape areas and accent lighting. We want your project to look perfect and don’t mind a little hands-on field work to make that happen.
